Crystal glasses from Zwiesel with Green Veltliner, Zweigelt & Co.
Zwiesel Kristallglas AG has entered into a longterm cooperation agreement with Sommelierverband Austria. Through this cooperation, Zwiesel Kristallglas AG has acted to enhance its market position in one of Europe’s most innovative and important wine markets; while confirming its expertise and market lead in the manufacture of probably the world’s best crystal glasses for wine.

The contract between Zwiesel Kristallglas AG and the Sommelierverband Austria commenced in October 2005, and in the initial phase will run for three years. This agreement will enhance the reputation of Zwiesel Kristallglas AG and its renowned expertise with the design and production of wine glasses both in Austria and the wider world.

Zwiesel Kristallglas AG (formerly Schott Zwiesel AG), is the market leader in the supply of crystal glasses to 4, 5 and 6 star hotels as well as the world’s best restaurants. Zwiesel Kristallglas AG owns the bands Schott Zwiesel and Zwiesel 1872. The Sommelierverband, provides its members with information on the latest developments in wine growing, tourism and the legal environment to help organise Austria’s most important wine growers and sommeliers.

All the events of the Sommelierverbands Austria will now exclusively feature Schott Zwiesel and/or Zwiesel 1872 glassware. Zwiesel Kristallglas AG will also have the opportunity to represent its product ranges at these events. Moreover, all publications by both parties will draw attention to the cooperation and support of the respective partner.

As Siegfried Brudermann, diploma sommelier and president of the Sommelierverband explained at the contract signing, both sides will benefit from the agreement: " Zwiesel Kristallglas AG possesses the highest Sommelier competence with its Schott Zwiesel and Zwiesel 1872 stemware, which will serve us well on at our wine tasting events." The completion of the contract has a directional character.
For Dr. Andreas Buske, executive board member and director of Zwiesel Kristallglas AG believes the finalisation of this contract provides an important pointer for Zwiesel Kristallglas’s future direction: “This agreement allows us to consolidate our position in one of Europe’s core markets with an advanced wine culture, and to elevate our position within the catering trade in general. Even though geopolitically Austria may be a small country, it is among the world’s top ranking nations for wine growing and development.”
